As handmade items, each shade will vary in printing and colour shading. Minor blemishes are possible and colours may change slightly in time. To clean the lampshades, simply dust gently with a clean dry soft brush.
Our drawings are reworkings of images originally drawn by R.C. Caldecott. The lampstands shown in our photographs are not included in the price, although may be purchased on enquiry.
From the suppliers of our lampshade components:
The frame has been designed to fit any UK fitting (Bayonet Cap B22) or European (Edison Screw E27). It comes with a clever little converter plug which enables it to work with both fittings.
Lampshades with our PVC-based products will be fire resistant. Our PVC material has been tested in the Lighting Association Laboratories and has passed the glow wire test.
Fabrics, Textiles or Paper that is laminated to our PVC will become fire resistant.
We recommend the use of low energy bulbs with your lampshades. They use less energy and are cool to the touch,
The self-adhesive lampshade panel has been tested in the Lighting Association Laboratories and has passed the glow wire test which is The British Standard for Luminaries.
Advice for choosing a bulb:
A major yet often overlooked aspect of lampshade selection is safety—specifically, heat generation in relation to shade size. Higher wattage bulbs generate greater amounts of heat and require more ventilation, which means larger or wider shades must be used. For example, for a 60-watt bulb, there must be at least 75mm of space between the bulb and the backing of the lampshade. Very simply, the higher the wattage, the larger the shade.
Below is a simple Heat Ventilation Guide so you can determine the wattage for your lampshade:
Bulb Size/ Wattage Critical Radius
0-25 Watts/ 25mm
26-40 Watts/ 50mm
41-60 Watts/ 65mm
61-75 Watts/ 75mm
76-100 Watts/ 90mm
101-150 Watts/ 130mm
We recommend you use low energy bulbs and that will reduce the risk of heat generation.
